Carol Newmarch: Start Where You Are!

Welcome to my new blog – the fact that it’s taken me quite a while to get down to writing it is probably a thread I will follow; like most of us, I’m a busy person, trying to follow a creative path in the midst of an often chaotic life, and the self discipline to follow any kind of creative practice is a constant challenge! However I found a motto earlier this year, which struck a loud but harmonic chord, and I’ve kind of adopted it as my mantra – it appeared in my Facebook feed on one of those ever circulating bits of advice: ‘Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can!’ So as a thwarted perfectionist, whenever I find myself back to that place of ‘shoulds’ (I should have started my blog by now for example) I now return to that mantra and remind myself that creativity, by its very nature, is an ability we all have which can use the very chaos of our lives to make a path for ourselves through the sometimes overwhelming jungle of experiences that happen to us on a daily basis.

My website is another unfolding entity, which I invite you to check out regularly as the weeks progress, as I will be letting you know about my artwork and where you can find it, but also about workshops, courses, and retreats coming up in 2014, where I will share some of the techniques I have learned over the years for tapping into your creativity to enable you to release your own potential, and follow your dreams!

So start where you are, check out what you have, and do what you can to take the first step on the path of whatever journey you find yourself on at the moment. Hope to meet you soon!
